Best EMF Blocking Cell Phone Cases

In today’s world, mobile phones have become an integral part of our lives. However, what we often overlook is the fact that these devices emit a type of radiation known as electromagnetic field (EMF) radiation.

Exposure to high levels of EMF radiation can lead to various health issues such as headaches, fatigue, and even cancer. Despite the lack of conclusive evidence linking EMF radiation to severe health problems, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Top Pick
defendershield best case

The only case that offers functional EMF protection against 5G wireless radiation.

Pros

  • High EMF blocking rate (up to 99%).
  • Use of multiple layers for effective shielding.
  • High-quality materials might improve durability.
  • Improved grip to prevent drops.

You can also check out these test results on their website here.

One of the main reasons that has led me to believe that the Defendershield cell phone case is one of the best on the market is because their technology is patent-pending. This means that they’ve developed cases with attention to detail.

The materials used to craft each Defendershield phone case are conductive and non-conductive. Each layer works in perfect harmony to not only conduct but also absorb and dissipate the dangers of EMF radiation.

It doesn’t matter the type of brand your cell phone is. The cases are suitable for iPhone, Samsung, LG, Motorola, and many others.

In a way, I like to think that the Defendershield phone case is a barrier between expensive doctor appointments and a healthy lifestyle. Whichever side you want to be on depends on how much you know about this subject.

Design and Convenience

Equally important, since I’ve analyzed the majority of the models, each Defendershield phone case has a low-profile design which means that it won’t bring unnecessary attention to itself.

They’re lightweight and easy to conceal which means that you will feel comfortable using them for many years to come.

In addition to this, the Defendershield phone case has practical features integrated into its design. For example, it can fold to act as a stand so you can use it for landscape viewing.

Above all, this brand is one of the few that provides the best EMF protection. The usual cell phone cases are tacky, and they do not protect you much from the harm of EMF radiation.

Top features to look for in an EMF-blocking cellphone case

Having looked at the best EMF protection products to reduce EMF exposure, let’s go over what to look for while choosing one.

EMF Blocking Material Composition and Effectiveness

The shielding material composition of an anti-radiation case is important because it determines the effectiveness of the phone case in reducing your exposure to radiation.

The best EMF-blocking cases typically use a combination of materials that block and absorb radiation. These materials can include metals like copper and silver, as well as fabrics like neoprene and microfiber.

When choosing a case, make sure to look for one that has been independently tested for its ability to block EMF radiation.

Look for anti-radiation phone cases that have a specific reduction percentage listed; this means that the manufacturer has conducted testing on their products to ensure they are effective.

Compatibility with different phone models

Another important factor when choosing an EMF-blocking phone case is compatibility with your phone model. Not all cases fit all phones, so it’s important to choose one that specifically suits your device.

Some manufacturers offer cases for popular phone models like iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones, while others offer more universal options.

When choosing a case, make sure you check the dimensions and compatibility list before making a purchase.

A poorly fitting phone case may not effectively block radiation or may even interfere with your phone’s functionality.

Durability and protection against drops and scratches

In addition to its ability to block EMF radiation, an anti-radiation phone case should also provide adequate protection against drops and scratches.

Look for cases made from durable materials like TPU or polycarbonate plastic that can absorb shock from falls.

A good EMF blocking case should also have raised edges around the screen area to prevent scratches or cracks from accidental drops. Some cases offer additional features like reinforced corners or bumpers for extra protection.

Design and style options

EMF protection phone cases come in a variety of designs and styles to suit different tastes. Some are more basic and functional, while others offer a more stylish look with patterns or prints.

When choosing a case, consider your personal style and what you want your phone to look like. You can find cases in a range of colors and materials like leather or wood for a more natural look.

Ultimately, the best EMF protection case for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. By considering these top features, you can select a phone case that will effectively block radiation while also providing the protection and style you desire.

Cell phone radiation, specifically RF radiation, has been a subject of ongoing research and debate. The World Health Organisation (WHO) says that “To date, no adverse health effects have been established as being caused by mobile phone use.”

Although the science is still not completely settled, some potential health concerns have been identified, especially for people with EMF sensitivity. It’s important to note that while these risks have been proposed, further research is required to definitively establish these links:

Cancer

Perhaps the most controversial and heavily studied potential risk is the link between EMF radiation and cancer.

Some studies suggest a potential correlation between long-term, heavy use of mobile phones and certain types of brain tumors. However, other research has found no such link.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies RF electromagnetic fields as possibly carcinogenic to humans, based on an increased risk for glioma, a type of brain cancer.

Neurological Effects

Some research suggests that RF radiation may affect brain functions such as reaction times and sleep patterns.

The effects could potentially include headaches, insomnia, or changes in memory or attention. However, the evidence for this is mixed.

Fertility Issues

Some studies suggest there could be a link between RF radiation and a decrease in male fertility, due to potential effects on sperm quality, count, and motility. However, these studies often rely on self-reported data, which can be less reliable.

Effects on Childhood Development

Children’s skulls and scalps are thinner than those of adults, which could potentially result in higher exposure of their brains to RF radiation.

Some researchers are concerned that this could potentially impact cognitive development, though more research is needed in this area.

Thermal Effects

Mobile phones emit RF radiation, which can be absorbed by tissues closest to where the phone is held.

The main established biological effect of RF radiation is heating, which in extreme cases can lead to burns or heat strokes.

Again, it’s crucial to emphasize that while these risks are potential concerns, the scientific community does not yet fully agree on the extent of these risks.

It is always a good idea to follow guidelines set by health organizations and use hands-free devices or texting options when possible to minimize direct exposure to RF radiation.

Tips for reducing exposure to EMF radiation from cellphones

Use speaker phone or headphones when making calls

Using a speakerphone or headphones to make calls is a great way to reduce your exposure to EMF radiation. When you hold your phone up to your ear, it’s in close proximity to your brain, which can increase the amount of radiation that you’re exposed to.

By using the speakerphone function or wearing headphones, you can keep the phone away from your head and reduce this risk.

Additionally, using a wired headset is a good option because it eliminates the need for Bluetooth technology, which emits its own type of EMF radiation. You can also consider an air tube headset.

If you’re concerned about wires getting tangled, look for a headset with tangle-free cords. It’s important to note that while this will reduce your exposure to radiation, it won’t completely eliminate it.

Limit time spent on your phone

Limiting the amount of time you spend on your phone is another way to reduce exposure to EMF radiation.

The longer you use your phone, the more EMF radiation it emits and the more potential harm it could cause. Consider taking breaks from using your phone throughout the day or setting limits on how much time you spend on specific apps.

One easy way to do this is by setting screen-time limits in your device’s settings or downloading an app that tracks and limits usage.

Another option is simply turning off notifications so that you feel less compelled to constantly check for new messages or updates.

If you can not do without your cell phone owing to work requirements or other limitations, it’s best to invest in air tube headphones.

Turn off your phone at night

Turning off your phone at night may seem inconvenient, but it’s an effective way of reducing nighttime EMF radiation exposure.

Even if you’re not actively using your device while sleeping, it still emits low levels of background radiation when in standby mode.

To improve sleep quality and minimize potential health risks associated with EMF radiation, consider designating a specific time each night to turn off your phone.

If you need to use your phone as an alarm clock, consider turning on airplane mode instead, which stops the transmission of signals and reduces radiation exposure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do EMF protection stickers work?

The effectiveness of EMF protection stickers or anti-radiation stickers is a matter of debate. Some manufacturers claim they can harmonize the EMF radiation, making it safer for the human body. However, these claims are generally not supported by scientific evidence and they’re unlikely to block EMF at all.

Can Airplane mode reduce radiation?

Switching your phone to Airplane mode disables all wireless transmission functions, effectively reducing radiation emissions to nearly zero. This includes cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth signals. However, you won’t be able to receive calls, messages, or use internet data while it’s activated.

What is the safe distance from mobile phone radiation?

There isn’t a universally agreed-upon “safe” distance because mobile phone radiation decreases quickly with increasing distance. As a rule of thumb, maintaining a distance of a few feet can dramatically reduce your radiation exposure. It’s also generally advisable not to carry your cell phone directly against your body.

Does leather block radiation?

Leather alone is not known to block EMF or radiofrequency radiation effectively. However, some cell phone cases use leather combined with other materials that may have EMF-shielding properties.

You may believe that EMFs are dangerous to be around. Even though EMF electric stoves emit frequencies of electromagnetic radiation, the electric stoves do not cause much harm to the body. However, it’s best to go for low EMF electric stoves if you’re looking to purchase one.

Electric stoves are becoming more popular in everyday kitchens. If you are looking to upgrade your stove, it would be best to know what the better low EMF electric stoves are. Below is a list to narrow down the choices.

8 Best Low EMF Electric Stoves

EMF is the electromagnetic field that any electric stove gives off. Most electric devices in your home give off an electromagnetic field. Electric stoves cook food faster than gas stoves and the electric stoves have lighting cues to let you know that it is on. Gas stoves emit flames that could potentially catch on to anything and start a small fire.

You will notice that most of these models have a safety feature that stops a burner from coming on if there is no cookware. This feature will only work effectively if the cookware is made out of cast-iron or stainless steel.

1. General Electric PS950SFSS Slide-In Double Oven

Even if you are considering other EMF electric stoves, there are great benefits that you should learn about what comes with purchasing an electric stove.

What Are the Benefits of Electric Stoves?

Electric stoves are a great addition to your kitchen. These stoves are becoming more competitive in prices with gas stoves, that make it obtainable for any homeowner. There are benefits that could persuade anyone to make the change. These benefits include:

  • Speed: Electric stoves are faster than traditional stoves. This allows the electric stove to boil water and prepare meals swiftly.
  • Energy-saver: The U.S. Department of Energy declares that electric stoves are 84% more efficient when dealing with energy transfers. This means little heat escapes between the stove and the pot.
  • Cool cooktop: When you are cooking, the surface below the pot would be the only part that is heated. The rest of the surface would be cool enough to touch. This feature would help you and any younger children stay safe when they are around the stove.
  • Easy cleanup: Because most electric stoves have a glass surface, they are better at being cleaned than stoves with coils. All you have to use is a wet kitchen cloth or sponge to wipe away the spill.
  • Control: electric stoves give you better control of heating temperatures. You can boil, cook or melt at the right temperature that you need it to be.
  • Attractive style: Electric stove look more appealing than standard stoves. They are sleek and modern looking and can be a bought standalone product if needed.
  • Safety: Because an electric stove does not produce fire, paper towels and kitchen cloths do not have the ability to catch fire. An electric stove only heats up an object that has iron in it.

While the electric stoves are able to heat fast, they can also cool down just as quickly. With gas stoves, you have the possibility of a gas leak happening if the oven is not constructed properly. If the knob turns too fast to let go of the gas without it igniting, it could lead to a fire.

Gas stoves require you for your own safety to have a carbon monoxide detector. With gas or electric stoves, be sure that your knobs are all turned off when you are finished cooking.

There are always two sides to a coin. Electric stoves do have their disadvantages, you just have to decide if they are dealbreakers or not.

What Are the Disadvantages With Electric Stoves?

EMF electric stoves are becoming more common as the technology that is implemented into them can now be used by everyday people. However, there are still some disadvantages that have to be tweaked.

The disadvantages of an EMF electric stove are:

  • Price: There are some electric stoves with prices that are comparable to gas. Although, since electric stoves are just now becoming popular, the price is still considerably high for certain models in well-known brands.
  • Specific Cookware: This could be a dealbreaker to some. Most electric stoves use a magnetic field to keep the heat going straight to your cookware. This means that your cookware must be conducive to helping that feature save you energy. Stainless steel or cast-iron works best.
  • Learning: With a new electric stove, there is a lot to learn. Your cookware must be right. You will need to position your pots and pans dead smack in the center of the burner. The lock feature may turn off while you are cooking if you remove the pan from the surface.
  • Overcooked Food: Be careful when cooking. Because an electric stove focuses all of its heat to your cookware, your food will cook faster. If you plan to cook a steak medium-rare, it may require you to watch over more often than you would a gas stove.
  • Sounds: The sound of energy being transferred to your burners may not be of concern to you. To others, there is a humming noise that comes from the stove when the temperature is set on high.
  • Damages: Electric stoves mostly have glass tops. If you slam any cookware onto your surface it will crack. Sliding your pots and pans across the stove could scratch the top up and damage the finish. It is recommended that you use a very soft sponge or cloth to clean any messes.

These are the main concerns of those who are considering purchasing an electric stove. The other concern many have is that they do not know if electric stoves give off radiation or not. Here is what you can learn about electric stoves emitting radiation and what that means for you and your family.

Do Electric Stoves Give Off Radiation?

When you are using an electric stove, it emits the same amount of radiation as your other electronic devices. There is a magnetic field that surrounds each electric conductor when there is an electric current that flows through it.

Also read: EMF Radiation from Induction Cooktops

The frequency that the electric current operates at will be the same frequency of the electromagnetic radiation. This all stems from the frequency of the electric network which can range from 24 to 60 kHz. The higher the electric current is, the more magnetic radiation there is.

When it comes to the electromagnetic spectrum there seven categories that are the following:

  • Radio Waves (Boombox, speaker)
  • Microwaves
  • Infrared Radiation (TV remote)
  • Visible Light (Light Bulb)
  • Ultraviolet (The Sun)
  • X-Rays (Doctor’s visits that require you to put leaded aprons on)
  • Gamma-Rays (The Hulk)

Your electric stove will be in the same range as the radio waves and the microwave.

Your electric stove, just as your other devices, will be a power option for your electric field. This means that there are two electric conductors that have two different electric voltages. Your electric devices serve as a power source for this electric field. This process creates an electromagnetic field.

There is no need to be afraid of electric devices. These electric devices help our lives become a little bit easier. Most of the electric devices in your home that you may not think about, have an electromagnetic field. These devices can include:

  • Electric Stove
  • Wi-Fi Router
  • Smartphones
  • Laptop
  • Microwave Oven
  • Gaming Controller
  • Tablets

Radiation comes from the electromagnetic field, and as we step away from those electric devices the levels of radiation drop. With all of the electrical wires and different components that surround our electric devices, they will always give off radiation frequencies. This happens even if your devices are turned off.

So, even if your electric stove is downstairs, remember that electric devices with low-frequency radiation can still go through the walls. Where you place your electric stove could be major, if there is a bedroom on the other side of the wall, that person could be exposed to electromagnetic radiation.

I’ll go through these choices in more detail below, but it’s first worth looking at some important questions about low EMF cordless phones, along with the buying factors you must consider.

Do cordless phones have radiation?

Cordless phones do in fact give off EMF radiation. They effectively work on the same technology as cellphones, in that they transmit radio signals to their base, which is basically a cellphone tower. The major difference is that cordless phones work over a shorter distance.

In short, cordless phones communicate with their base using RF signals in much the same way other electronic devices do. Like Wi-Fi routers and smart meters, cordless phones work on their own radio frequencies.

The frequency used will depend on several factors, including the brand and design. Newer models operate anywhere between 900MHz and 5.8GHz depending on distance, while older ones will be around 90MHz.

One of the biggest issues with cordless phones, however, is that they constantly emit these radio signals. These signals can come from both the base station and the handset, although some models will only emit radiation from the handset during a call.

Of course, the biggest issue here is constant exposure. Also, many people store their cordless phone base stations in what they consider to be convenient locations, such as next to their bed or sofa.

However, doing this is like having a high-powered cellphone next to you at all times, which isn’t very healthy. We’re aware of the dangers of EMF exposure, otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this article.

Are cordless phones dangerous?

Cordless phones emit more EMF radiation than cellphones. Also, holding the headset to your ear brings it close to the blood-brain barrier, which is a permeable and highly sensitive membrane. This means it’s more susceptible to problems.

EMF exposure has been linked to a number of health complications, including:

  • Eating problems (nausea and loss of appetite)
  • Sleep problems (insomnia, irregular sleeping patterns)
  • Dizziness
  • Itchy/prickly skin
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Fertility problems
  • Cancer

EMFs are believed to disrupt processes in the body such as DNA replication and hormone release, which is why it’s linked to cancer and mental health issues. This is particularly true in people with electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS).

However, we’re all arguably at the same risk of conditions related to EMF exposure because we all have devices around us constantly. Cordless phones are no exception to this rule as they’ve become the new norm for household phones.

Unlike devices such as cellphones and computers, which most of us will likely turn off when not in use; this isn’t the case for cordless phones. They stay turned on all the time and almost all models will emit some constant form of EMF radiation.

Considering the amount of time many of us will spend around these devices, this is quite a worrying thought. However, as more and more people wake up to the health risks associated with EMF radiation, there’s a developing market for products with low radiation.

What are low radiation cordless phones?

Generally speaking, low radiation cordless phones aren’t advertised as such. Unlike devices like Wi-Fi routers and smart meters, cordless phones aren’t given much attention in the EMF world.

Another reason for this fact is that low radiation cordless phones do still give off EMF radiation, just less of it. This is how the devices work, so it’s impossible to think you can completely remove all EMF radiation from them.

The difference is that the cordless phones we consider to be low radiation have something known as ECO mode. Technically it’s an energy-saving mode, but it means the phone only communicates with its base station when in use.

While it might not seem like the biggest step in the right direction, it does make a difference. For example, if you spend 30 minutes talking to someone on the phone you’ll only be exposed to 30 minutes of radiation, rather than several hours’ worth.

You can expect to reduce your EMF exposure by around 80% just by making the switch to a cordless phone with ECO setting. However, if you’re really careful then you could probably increase this to as much as 90%.

Consider the following points to reduce your EMF exposure from cordless phones:

  • Keep the base station well away from living areas. Ideally, it should be kept in the farthest corner of the house.
  • Don’t talk for long. Try to not have the phone next to your head for more than 20 minutes a day in total.
  • Use loudspeaker whenever possible. This keeps the EMF radiation away from your blood/brain barrier.

The bottom line is that even with a low radiation cordless phone, you’ll still be exposed to some level of EMF radiation. There’s basically no avoiding it if you’re using a wireless electronic device of any kind.

If this is really going to be an issue for you, then consider switching back to a corded phone. Doing so is the only way to still be able to make phone calls while reducing your EMF radiation exposure to almost nothing.

Buying criteria for cordless phones

Choosing the right low radiation cordless phone will obviously depend on your needs. If you’re tight on budget, you can find a fairly effective cordless phone for a low enough price.

However, it’s worth paying a bit more for some extra functions. These are the main criteria I’d suggest the following when making your choice.

Range

Range is obviously an important one, as if you live in a big house you’ll need a cordless phone with a greater range. By this, I mean the distance you can take the handset from the base station before you lose signal.

If you live in a smaller property, such as a small house or apartment, you won’t really need to think about this. Pretty much every model will have a range greater than 150ft, which will be fine for smaller properties.

Loudspeaker

If you have concerns about EMF radiation exposure, this’ll be a pretty important function to consider. Using the handset on loudspeaker means you don’t have to hold it to your head, which reduces your exposure.

In short, this means you can spend longer talking on the phone. However, look for a model with better battery life because loudspeaker functions can be a pretty big drain.

Call functions

Depending on what you’re using the phone for, you might want to look for call functions. These can include:

  • Caller ID
  • Phonebook
  • Call waiting
  • Base station/handset intercom
  • Conference call
  • Speed dial
  • Last number redial

For some, these functions won’t be necessary. However, as you’ll have to pay a bit more for an ECO cordless phone you might as well lookout for some extra features.

The 8 best low radiation cordless phones

best Cordless Phones

Now that we’ve got a better idea of what to look out for, it’s time to look at some of the best models currently on the market. There are phones hear for every price bracket, so you should be sure to find a suitable one.

1. VTech CS6719-2 Low Radiation Cordless Phone

This set of cordless phones comes with 2 handsets and 2 base stations. The main base station has more functions, but both handsets have the same features. Importantly, both have ECO mode.

The handsets are really easy to use and have a bright LCD screen that’s just under half the size of the front face. The buttons are fairly large and light up, meaning it’s usable in low light conditions.

Along with ECO mode, these handsets have a speakerphone, 50 number phonebook, caller ID, conference call and more. Importantly, they’re not too expensive either.

The only real downside is that these handsets lag a bit when using speed dial and last number redial. However, this is a minor problem because the functions still work fine.

2. Panasonic KX-TGD532W Cordless Phone

One of the best features of this handset is that it can be used in an expandable network. This means you can buy more handsets of the same type and have a bigger phone system. The pack comes with 2 so you’re already off to a good start.

It has the all-important ECO mode, which reduces RF emissions and improves battery life. This function exists on both handsets, which is useful.

Among its other features are a 1.6 backlit LCD screen, which is big enough to see clearly, and a bilingual caller ID. The base station has a voice function, and can read out caller names in both English and Spanish.

My only negative is that the menus can be a bit difficult to navigate because there’s no quick search option. However, this is only a problem if you have lots of numbers stored in the phonebook.

Also, you have to manually set up ECO mode, but it explains how to do this in the manual and you only have to do it once.

3. AT&T Expandable Low EMF Cordless Phone

This set of cordless phones have extra-large buttons, which is useful for those with sight impairment issues. What’s more, they also have high-contrast, backlit LCD screens for the same reason.

In this set, you get the main base station and 3 extra handsets/base stations, so this is a good choice for small businesses or large homes. The main base serves as the answering machine, but calls can be taken on any handset.

They have all the functions you’d expect, including a 50 name phonebook, loudspeaker, audio equalizing settings and smart call block. This last feature allows you to save up to 1000 numbers on your block list.

I initially thought that the handsets being battery powered (rather than rechargeable) would be an issue, but I actually found that it helped to cut down on EMF emissions. Importantly the handsets still have good battery life.

4. Panasonic KX-TGD564M Cordless Phone

Panasonic is probably going to be a regular name on this list because they make some of the best cordless phones. This set is no exception, as it comes with 4 handsets and a number of really useful features.

The main base station serves as the answering machine, but you can retrieve messages using any handset. You can also link the phones to your cellphone, which allows you to receive calls on that instead.

There are also other Bluetooth functions, but these can be turned off if you want to reduce your EMF levels. Among the other features you’ll find:

  • Bilingual caller ID
  • Loudspeaker
  • Programmable ring IDs for different numbers
  • Call block
  • Phonebook

While this set might be on the higher end of the price spectrum, I think it’s worth it for the range of features you get. Just because you want a low radiation cordless phone doesn’t mean you should have to sacrifice functionality.

5. VTech IS8151-5 Super Long Range Cordless Phone

If you need a cordless phone with an amazing range, this is the choice for you. These handsets can boast a whopping 2300ft range from the base station before they lose signal. Having this kind of flexibility can be really useful.

While this set comes with the base station and 4 additional handsets, you can buy sets with fewer. The network is expandable anyway, meaning you can start with 2 and always add more. This makes them a great choice for both home and business.

Each handset has a 2-inch backlit LCD screen and large buttons, making them ideal for those with sight impairments. The main base station also has a 3.5-inch screen, which you can use to check messages and your phonebook.

My only negative is that their extra functions mean they emit more EMF radiation than normal cordless phones, but this is irrelevant once you turn ECO mode on anyway.

6. AT&T CRL82312 Expandable Cordless Phone

Probably my favorite thing about these cordless phones, other than being low radiation, is the price. They’re in a mid-range price bracket, but you get amazing call clarity and functionality as standard.

The handsets feature signal boosting technology and the ability to filter out background noise, which results in really clear audio, even at long range. The Audio Assist button increases the call volume and clarity with a single button press.

The screen is nice and large, as are the buttons, and it’s all backlit too. This makes the handsets really easy to use in almost any environment. The base station also provides caller announce, which can be really useful.

I think the only issue I could find with these phones is that the loudspeaker volume wasn’t very high. However, considering this is only so you can keep it away from your head, it’s not that big a deal.

7. Panasonic EX-TGD530M Cordless Phone

For many, a single cordless handset will be more than enough to use at home. If that’s the case, this’ll be an ideal choice. The handset is simple and easy to use and provides all the necessary functions without breaking the bank.

The 1.6-inch LCD screen is high-contrast and backlit, so it’s really easy to see who’s calling. It also has an excellent range and so will be suitable for small to medium households.

You can also expect features like caller ID announce, customizable ringer IDs, message counter, and much more. As I mentioned, this phone has all the functions you think you might need.

However, I did find the handset being battery powered did shorten its lifespan. The handset goes through batteries fairly quickly, so a rechargeable option might be better if you’ll be making a lot of calls.

8. VTech CD6529-4B Low Radiation Cordless Phone

Granted, style isn’t what many people look for in their cordless phones, but if you do then this’ll be the choice for you. The handsets come in 4 different colors, which adds a touch of style to an otherwise functional object.

The handsets are clear and easy to use, and the call clarity is fairly good. They all have loudspeaker functions and impressive range from their base stations.

Unlike other handsets, this one has trilingual caller functions, which might come in handy. Also, you can add more handsets to the network, making them suitable for both home and business.

Some final thoughts

Buying a low radiation cordless phone doesn’t need to be a difficult task. Providing you know your budget and needs, it really won’t take very long. Hopefully, this list has shown you some of the best options currently available, and at least one should meet your needs.

Do Negative Ion Bracelets Work Against EMF? https://emfadvice.com/negative-ion-bracelets/ Wed, 22 Jul 2020 12:33:28 +0000 https://emfadvice.com/?p=3198 Read more

Negative Ion Bracelets Against EMF

If you’ve been looking for ways to combat EMF radiation, you might have wondered, “Do negative ion bracelets work against EMF radiation?” I’ve spent time doing the research so you don’t have to. Here’s a quick answer:

Negative ion bracelets, unfortunately, don’t work against EMF radiation. They claim that the negative ions get absorbed through your skin to combat the effects of EMF radiation exposure which isn’t possible, and most importantly, they don’t affect EMF’s initial impacts on the body.

In this article, I’ll look in more detail at what negative ion bracelets are, how they claim to work against EMF, and how you can actually protect yourself from radiation exposure.

What are negative ions?

Before we get into the specifics of how a negative ion bracelet works, it’s first worth understanding what we mean by negative ions.

Simply put, negative ions are atoms with fewer protons than electrons. This means that they have a negative charge, which in turn means they become magnetically attracted to other things.

Negative ions are a naturally occurring thing, and can be found in the following:

  • UV rays
  • Situations when water collides with itself (such as a waterfall). This is called the Lenard Effect
  • The air after thunder or lightning
  • During the growth of many plants

There have been some studies on the health impacts of negative ions, both positive and negative. One study found that negative ions react with bodily tissue and DNA, sometimes in positive ways.

A different study from 2015 found that exposure to negative ions could have short-term positive impacts on cognitive ability. A complete review of work on negative ions found that they can impact us in the following ways:

  • Reduce stress
  • Improve immune response
  • Regulate sleep patterns

The bottom line is that negative ions may very well have some positive impacts on our health. However, this doesn’t mean they’re effective against EMF radiation.

Read my article on which EMF products work.

What does a negative ion bracelet do?

A negative ion bracelet claims to work by exposing you to a source of negative ions. This is generally in the form of particular minerals or metals. These can include things like tourmaline, zeolite, titanium, and others.

Many of these substances do have some kind of electrical charge of their own. However, to produce negative ions in the quantity required, they often need to be exposed to heat or pressure.

According to manufacturers, simply wearing the bracelet provides enough heat to produce negative ions. This is known as pyroelectricity, which is when a substance gives off an electrical charge when heat is applied.

Once the bracelet starts giving off negative ions, these are then meant to either be inhaled or absorbed through the skin. They will then make their way into the bloodstream, where they react with various bodily processes.

The claim is that, once, inside your body, negative ions will help to produce serotonin, a lack of which is linked to a number of mental health conditions. They also claim to reduce blood pressure and remove free radicals from your system.

However, there isn’t enough evidence to confirm this is true. What’s more, even if negative ion bracelets did work, their effects don’t align well enough with EMF radiation to make them effective.

In terms of their use against EMF radiation, manufacturers claim that they disrupt EMF radiation fields. However, as many of us know, this isn’t possible in the form of a small bracelet worn on the wrist.

Do negative ion bracelets give off radiation?

Something not many wearers of negative ion bracelets consider is whether the bracelet itself gives off radiation. This is ironic considering they’re often used as an EMF radiation shield.

Negative ion bracelets might give off their own radiation. However, this depends entirely on what materials are used. Some of the minerals used to create negative ions are naturally occurring sources of radiation. These can include things like uranium.

Perhaps some small consolation is that negative ion bracelets don’t give off EMF radiation. That said, they’re recognized by health bodies as sources of ionizing radiation, which is the same kind found in radioactive materials.

Bear in mind, however, that this isn’t the case for all negative ion bracelets. As I mentioned, it depends on the materials used, and whether these are natural sources of radiation.

While they’re never going to give off “dangerous” levels of radiation, wearing one all day every day isn’t going to do much for your overall health. This is just another reason why you should stay away from them.

Why don’t negative ion bracelets work for EMF radiation?

Negative Ion Bracelets EMF radiation

Considering many manufacturers of negative ion bracelets don’t say specifically how their products work against EMF radiation, we have to make a few assumptions.

In fact, many claim to improve your body’s “rhythm” or “vibe”, which isn’t particularly useful information.

It’s probably fair to assume that negative ion bracelets are believed to work against EMF radiation in 2 ways:

  • They disrupt the EMF radiation field by creating a “shield” around your body using negative ions.
  • They combat the effects of free radicals in your body, which are a result of EMF radiation exposure.

Let’s go through why these claims would be incorrect.

1. Disrupting an EMF field

Many devices claim to block EMF radiation or create a shield around your body. What makes this a wild claim is that these devices are often tiny, such as a pendant or bracelet.

It’s impossible to disrupt an EMF radiation field with such a small device. Even if the materials used were able to block EMF radiation, they would only do so for the part of your body they’re covering.

Therefore, for a negative ion bracelet to be effective, you’d have to be covered in them. This, of course, wouldn’t be the most practical solution to the problem of EMF exposure.

2. Combating free radicals

Free radicals are an industry term for volatile atoms found within your body. They become volatile when their outer shell is missing electrons, causing them to bond with other atoms.

This is actually something that negative ions can be effective against. This is because the negative ions bond with the free radicals, which renders them inert. In short, they’re no longer looking for other atoms to bond with.

However, negative ion bracelets aren’t an effective way to combat free radicals because they’re simply not powerful enough. Even if they produce negative ions, they won’t do so in quantities large enough for them to be effective.

A much better way of fighting oxidative stress (the effect of free radicals) is to focus on your diet. In fact, there are plenty of diets tailored specifically to help you detox from EMF exposure.

When we think about how negative ion bracelets would work against EMF radiation, it’s easy to see that the claims they make are incorrect. As usual, it’s best to stick with tried and tested methods for reducing your EMF exposure.

Practical ways to reduce EMF exposure

Rather than spending your money on things like negative ion bracelets or EMF pendants, it’s better to stick with traditional methods. Here’s a quick rundown of my preferred methods for reducing EMF exposure.

1. Use Faraday cages

You might have heard the term before, but Faraday cages are simply metal cages put around objects. Doing so blocks any magnetic field they might produce, which effectively combats EMF radiation in your home.

For example, this smart meter cover is ideal for eliminating EMF radiation emitted by the device. You can also buy similar ones for your Wi-Fi router and other devices.

2. Turn it off

This might seem obvious, but don’t underestimate the power of turning your devices off at night. Doing so will massively reduce EMF radiation levels in your home, which is especially important while you’re asleep.

Be sure to unplug devices rather than just turning them off. Similarly, do everything possible to make your bedroom into an EMF free zone, as this will likely be where you spend the most time in a single location.

3. Get an EMF meter

If you don’t own one already, get an EMF meter. This is the only way to officially confirm levels of EMF radiation, rather than just going off a list of problem devices.

Using one will allow you to monitor levels in your home so that you can then put together an effective strategy.

4. Keep your distance

If you’re unable to shield properly from a source of EMF radiation, the next best option is to keep your distance. While it’ll be different distances for different devices, they follow the inverse square law.

This means that intensity drops with distance. For example, being twice as far from a source of radiation reduces its intensity by 25%. Keeping your distance is sometimes the only option available.

Some final thoughts

The bottom line is that negative ion bracelets aren’t effective against EMF radiation. While they might hold some health benefits, the fact that they may be a source of radiation themselves makes them potentially dangerous. You’re much better sticking with methods that actually work.

Dirty Electricity Filters

As more people become aware of the issue of dirty electricity, products to solve this problem are becoming more popular. I’ve been aware of the issue of dirty electricity for some time and have used my own experience to put together a list of the best dirty electricity filters.

So here are my 5 best dirty electricity filters:

  1. Greenwave Dirty Electricity Filter
  2. Stetzerizer Dirty Electricity Filter
  3. Satic Pure Power Plug
  4. Noxtak Dirty Electricity Filter
  5. Insteon Powerline Noise Filter

My top choice would probably have to be the Greenwave Dirty Electricity Filter because it’s produced by a market leader and so you can be confident it’ll get the job done properly. What’s more, you get enough in the pack to do plenty of rooms.

I’ll review these products in much more detail below, but first, it’s worth going over what dirty electricity is and why we should be concerned.

What is dirty electricity?

Dirty electricity is the term used to describe fluctuations in power supplies outside of the normal range of 50-60Hz. Dirty electricity is produced as a result of appliances needing a different current to that supplied by mains electricity, which produces “waste” power.

Although that sounds like it might be confusing, dirty electricity is a fairly easy concept to understand. Mains power works on a frequency of 50-60Hz and is alternating current.

In the past, electrical devices would just run on this power. However, modern devices often manipulate mains electricity to be more suitable for their needs. This could mean converting it into a direct current or a higher frequency alternating current.

For example, light dimmer switches produce dirty electricity by manipulating the voltage of the standard mains power. Other common sources of dirty electricity include:

  • TVs
  • Home theater systems or video games consoles
  • Cordless phones
  • Battery charging cables for mobile devices
  • Smart appliances

Some of these devices even turn their power supply on and off thousands of times a second to produce short bursts of power. Once created, dirty electricity makes its way back into the power supply and can affect other devices connected to it.

Check out my article Clean Vs. Dirty Electricity

Why should we be concerned about dirty electricity?

Dirty electricity is a major source of EMF pollution in the home and is one that not many people are aware of. After all, why would you expect your electronic devices to not simply run on mains power?

Along with affecting appliances connected to mains power, dirty electricity can also lead to spikes and surges that can overpower some devices. It can also damage the wiring in your home, which can be an expensive problem to fix.

Then, of course, there are the health implications of EMF radiation. This can affect your sleep, your mental health, your appetite, it can produce skin rashes, and may even be linked to cancer.

Some people might not even be aware that dirty electricity is affecting their health because they’ve been living with the impacts for so long. Ideally, the first step should be to measure levels in your home and then to install dirty electricity filters.

The best dirty electricity filters

Dirty electricity filters do exactly what you think they would: they plug into your mains power and filter out the “noise” created by other devices. Most brands recommend one per room, but this obviously depends on the size of your room and the extent of the problem.

I’d recommend buying some kind of starter pack if possible and then deciding if you need more. Of course, this will be much easier to tell if you have some kind of dirty electricity meter.

1. Greenwave Dirty Electricity Filter

greenwave

Greenwave (check their website) is one of the industry leaders in dirty electricity filters, and it’s easy to see why when you look at their products. Many other companies base themselves on this design, so why look anywhere but the original?

Check out my detailed review.

Greenwave sells its filters in bundles, so you can buy as many as you need in one go. Each one works as a standard dirty electricity filter but also has a built-in socket on the bottom so you can continue to use the outlet as normal.

What’s more, they offer a handy guide for working out how many filters you’ll need in your home, and offer a discount the more you buy. These products are a great starting point if you’re new to the world of dirty electricity filters.

The only real downside of these is that they don’t contain other features, such as surge protection and power conditioning. So if you’re looking for this, then you’ll need to search for a different product. Otherwise, this will be a great choice.

2. Stetzerizer Dirty Electricity Filter

This model from Stetzerizer is another great starting point if you’re looking for a simple but effective dirty electricity filter for your home. They’re really easy to use; you just plug them in and let them do their job.

As with other products, it’s recommended to install one per circuit (or room), although larger spaces will need 2 or more. While the manufacturer doesn’t offer any specific guidance, one filter per 150 square feet of space will be fine.

One thing this model is missing, however, is an extra socket. This means that you won’t be able to continue using the outlet as normal once it’s plugged in. However, as it doesn’t contain its own power filter or surge protector, this isn’t a massive loss.

The bottom line is that this filter will be fine if you have a larger home or plenty of outlets. However, if you’re looking for a filter that does other jobs, or allows you to continue using the outlet, then you’ll need to look elsewhere.

Check out Stetzerizer Vs. Greenwave Filters For Dirty Electricity

3. Satic Pure Power Plug

There probably isn’t a better place to start than with the Satic Pure Power Plug. It plugs directly into a spare socket and gets to work filtering out the dirty electricity.

Not only that, but it also conditions every electrical device plugged into the same circuit. It also offers surge protection, EMF reduction, and voltage regulation. It’s designed for use at 120V and 60Hz.

As with all dirty electricity filters, the amount you’ll need will depend on the size of your home. I recommend one per room, to begin with, but you might need to increase this to 2 per room depending on its size and the number of appliances in it.

This filter is miles above the others because of all the extra benefits it offers. If you only want a dirty electricity filter, then look elsewhere, but this is a great all-rounder.

4. Noxtak Dirty Electricity Filter

This dirty electricity filter is a good choice if you’re particularly sensitive to EMF radiation as it offers more protection than a standard filter. It comes with a built-in nanomagnetic polarizing filter, which is designed to reduce EMF radiation in your home.

Perhaps one of the best features of this filter is that it has a plug socket built-in, meaning you can use it and not have to sacrifice a socket. I found this to be a massive help, particularly if your rooms are small and have fewer outlets.

It’s recommended to install 1 filter per 194 square feet of space. For example, a house with 800 square feet would need at least 4 filters installed. However, it’s best to check this using a meter to ensure you have enough.

Not only does this device filter out dirty electricity, but it also conditions the existing power to make it more efficient. It also has an added 15A surge protector, which is useful if you plan to plug a device into it.

5. Insteon Powerline Noise Filter

This filter is designed to work on powerline noise, of which dirty electricity is just one kind. In short, it’s designed to condition the power supply to your home, which makes everything more efficient and should reduce your energy bill.

A helpful feature of this product is that it comes with 2 power outlets, so not only does it allow you to continue using the socket, you also get a bonus socket as a result!

To make it even better, it comes with a 10A surge protector and filters the power that goes to the connected devices. This makes it practical for both protecting your electrical devices and conditioning the power in your home.

It’s best to plug these filters into your worst offending dirty electricity devices, such as TVs, Wi-Fi routers, and computers. Doing so will help to filter the dirty electricity at its source, making everything much more efficient.

Best dirty electricity meters

Dirty Electricity Meter

As I mentioned earlier, the best way to test whether you have dirty electricity in your home is to buy a dirty electricity meter. Other than trial and error, these are really the only way to know for sure.

Dirty electricity is more common in homes with a large number of problem devices, but as almost all of us will own a computer, TV, or hairdryer, it’s likely we’re all suffering from the problem to an extent.

In order to help you solve the problem in the most efficient way, I’ve also put together a list of the best dirty electricity meters. Buying one of these along with a pack of filters will allow you to manage the problem effectively.

1. Stetzerizer Microsurge Meter

This dirty electricity meter is really easy to use but doesn’t just have to be used in conjunction with Stetzerizer products. After all, it’s only designed to monitor levels of dirty electricity, so you can plug in whatever filters you want.

To use it, all you need to do is plug it into a wall outlet and it’ll give you readings of how much dirty electricity you have in your home. It completely ignores the standard 60Hz signal and so will only show you the information you need.

What’s more, it comes with all the necessary information on how to take readings, what these readings mean, and what your next steps are. Overall this is a great product that does exactly what you need it to.

2. TriField Dirty Electricity Meter

his is another dirty electricity meter that’s super easy to use. It comes with a standard 2-prong American power cord, which you simply plug into a socket to take readings.

It comes with a number of features to make your job much easier. It has a field strength bar that changes color when in the presence of high levels of dirty electricity. It also has a speaker that sounds when you’re near a source of dirty electricity.

Along with this is the digital screen that displays relevant information. All of this allows you to get a much more comprehensive perspective of the issue, including which outlets are most in need of a filter. Overall this is a great starting product.

3. Greenwave Dirty Electricity Meter

greenwave emi meter

The Greenwave meter (check their website) is another great product for starting out. It has a clear LED screen that makes readings really easy and a speaker that sounds when you’re near a high source of dirty electricity.

It works on a wide range of frequencies so you’ll be able to monitor even slight changes to your home’s electricity. What’s more, using this meter makes before and after comparisons really simple.

As with the other meters, all you need to do is plug it in to take readings. It displays the results in millivolts (mV), and states that any reading under 25 is fine, while anything over 50 requires action. This arguably makes it much simpler to use than the others.

Some final thoughts

Combating dirty electricity in your home is a project worth taking on. It’s not something many of us are aware of, but luckily it’s fairly easy to solve once you have the right equipment.

One of the most important things to remember is that you’ll need multiple dirty electricity filters throughout your home, so look out for brands that offer discounts on larger orders, as you might need a few!

Low Radiation Air Purifiers

The benefits of having an air purifier in your home are almost endless. However, if like me you have concerns about unnecessary EMF radiation in your home, this can be enough to put you off buying one.

Luckily, there are 9 low radiation air purifiers worth looking at. Here are my top picks:

  1. Vremi Large Room Low EMF Air Purifier
  2. Levoit HEPA Low Radiation Air Purifier
  3. HOmelabs Portable Low EMF Air Purifier
  4. Hathaspace Smart Air Purifier
  5. KOIOS HEPA Low Radiation Air Purifier
  6. Medify Medical Grade Air Purifier
  7. Winix HR900 Low EMF Air Purifier
  8. Mooka 3-in-1 Low Radiation Air Purifier
  9. Air Choice Large Room Air Purifier

My top recommendation from this list is the Vremi Large Room Air Purifier (see it on Amazon) because it’s great value for money, very low on radiation, and does everything you need a good air purifier to do.

I’ll look at these in more detail below, but first, it’s worth looking at the potential EMF related health impacts of using an air purifier in your home.

Do air purifiers give off radiation?

Air purifiers, like all electronic devices, do give off some amount of EMF radiation, particularly magnetic radiation. However, unless they’re Wi-Fi enabled, they won’t give off any radio frequencies, which is what we’re generally concerned about when we discuss EMF radiation.

When we talk about EMF radiation, we’re talking about all frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum, of which there are plenty. Generally, most people are concerned with radio frequencies (such as Wi-Fi), but people can be affected by other frequencies.

EMF radiation is produced by all electronic devices in one form or another. For example, a current flowing through a wire produces a magnetic field, as does the wire coil in something like a fan motor.

There have been several tests done on air purifiers by people concerned over their EMF levels. One such test found that air purifiers gave off between 63mG and 200mG depending on the brand. Bear in mind that anything over 12mG can be dangerous.

So why is this such a concern when it comes to air purifiers? The biggest issue is related to the fact that an air purifier will realistically be turned on for long periods of time, meaning you’re exposed to high levels of EMF radiation.

Whether you consider yourself to be sensitive to EMF radiation or not, being around such high levels of EMF radiation for long periods of time could begin to outweigh the health benefits of using an air purifier.

The Best Low EMF Air Purifiers

Luckily there are plenty of low EMF air purifiers to help you overcome this issue. Many air purifiers that have high levels of EMF radiation use alternating current (AC) motors, which can result in dirty electricity and unnecessary EMF radiation.

Therefore, the main thing you should look for is an air purifier that runs on a direct current (DC) motor. This was one of my main deciding factors for this list, so you won’t have to spend too long looking for DC air purifiers.

1. Vremi Large Room Low Radiation Air Purifier

This air purifier is ideal if you’re looking for a compact model to work in a large space. It’s able to purify the air in a room up to 217 square feet, which should be more than enough for most.

It has a 3-stage filtration system, built-in timer and nightlight, and a smart air sensor. All of this means it’s a great model for using in personal spaces like your bedroom or a nursery.

Perhaps one of the best features of this air purifier is how long its filters last. Unlike some other models, this one only needs its filters changing every 180 days, meaning you get around 6 months run time out of it!

This air purifier doesn’t really have any negative points, as it’s efficient, a great price, and compact enough that you won’t even notice it. In fact, it’s definitely my top pick from this list.

2. Levoit HEPA Low EMF Air Purifier

This low EMF air purifier is a great place to start because it ticks all the boxes. Not only is it incredibly energy-efficient, costing as little as 18 cents per kWh, but it also has amazing filtration power.

The HEPA filter built into this air purifier is able to filter out 99.97% of all airborne particles, meaning it can get to things including spores, germs, pet dander, and dust.

In fact, it’s so good that it’s labeled as appropriate for nurseries and bedrooms, which should give you confidence that it’s safe to have on all day, regardless of which room you’re using it in.

The only real downside of this product is that it’s on the expensive end of the scale, but I’d say it’s worth it for the filtration benefits. What’s more, it’s really easy to carry around, meaning you don’t have to buy several for your home.

3. Homelabs Portable Low Radiation Air Purifier

If you’re looking for a low EMF air purifier for small spaces, then this will be a good choice for you. It’s quite compact, is very quiet, and is suitable for spaces up to 57.5 square feet.

It includes a 3-stage filtration system that includes a HEPA filter and activated carbon. So not only does this air purifier remove even the smallest particles, it neutralizes any bad smells in the air too.

Better yet, this air purifier only makes 50dB of noise, which is similar to a whisper. This means that it’s suitable for using in the bedroom as it won’t make too much noise while you’re sleeping.

On top of this is the fact that it’s very low EMF. The only real negative is that it’s not suited for larger spaces, but there are plenty of other options on the market for those.

4. Hathaspace Smart Air Purifier

Although normal air filters are fine if you’re looking to take your air filtration to the next level then consider a smart air purifier like this one. It does everything you need it to with the added bonus of a built-in air quality sensor.

This sensor allows the machine to test air quality in real-time and adjust its fan to match. It also has an indicator that shows green, red, or yellow depending on the air quality, so you’ll always know what level you’re at.

It comes with a built-in HEPA filter that catches particles as small as 0.3 microns. It’s suitable for removing dust, pet dander, germs, and things like cigarette smoke, so it covers plenty of bases.

What’s more, it also has an anion generator and activated carbon filter so it can take on even the most overpowering odors, such as litter trays. Of course, it’s also really low EMF radiation too.

While this is a more expensive model, it comes with a 2-year warranty and spare filters, so it’s actually fairly good value for money. On top of this, it’s quite sleek and stylish too.

5. KOIOS HEPA Low Radiation Air Purifier

Not only does this air purifier emit very low levels of EMF radiation, it’s also incredibly easy to use. Unlike some others that have screens and sensors, this one is a simple on/off button and 2-speed fan control.

It has a 3-stage filtration system that includes a HEPA filter and activated carbon filter, so it combats even the smallest particles and the most stubborn odors. It’s also completely ozone free and doesn’t use UV energy at all, which might be concerns in an EMF sensitive household.

This air purifier also runs really quiet while still providing efficient air filtration. In fact, it’s so quiet that you shouldn’t have any problems using it in the bedroom.

Importantly, it comes at a more entry-level price point, so this might be a good choice if you’re not looking to spend loads of money. Of course, this means you do miss out on some features, but it still does exactly what you need it to.

6. Medify Medical Grade Air Purifier

While this is the most expensive air purifier on this list, it’s justified by the extra filtration it offers. It can filter up to 99.99% of airborne particles, which puts it just ahead of the others.

It uses an H13 filter, which is rated higher than a HEPA and is considered to be medical grade. However, please remember that this isn’t a medical device and is intended for personal use.

It has a sleep mode, which reduces the amount of noise it makes. This, combined with its low EMF emissions, makes it a great choice if you need an air purifier in your bedroom.

It also comes with a child lock, timer settings, and 3 fan speeds. Overall this is a great model if you’re looking at a top of the range air purifier that’s low on EMF radiation.

7. Winix HR900 Low EMF Air Purifier

Winix is a leading brand in air purifiers, and this one is a follow up to their widely popular 9500 model. It comes with all the necessary features you’d expect from a model of this price, and it’s low in EMF too.

The HEPA filter is combined with a pre-filter and activated carbon filter to trap airborne particles and remove persistent odors. The pre-filter is washable, which makes the other filters last longer too.

It also has something called plasma wave technology, which breaks up odors and allergens, making it much more efficient than some other models. Importantly, this makes little to no difference to its overall EMF radiation levels.

The only real downside for this product is the price, as it’s another one on the expensive side. However, its size and efficiency make up for this high price tag and if you decide to give it a go you’ll understand.

8. Mooka 3-in-1 Low Radiation Air Purifier

This low EMF air purifier is one of the quietest on this list. When in quiet mode, it operates at around 35dB, which is really quiet. This makes it ideal for use in nurseries and for small children.

Although it’s fairly compact, its 3-stage filtration system is just as efficient as the larger models. Obviously the only difference is that this one will be best in small to medium rooms.

On top of this, it’s incredibly energy efficient, as it’s rated at 8W of power. This means you can run it constantly and will hardly notice the dent in your electricity bill.

The only real negative is that the device’s light can’t be turned off when in use, meaning it might be distracting if used in a bedroom. However, if this is an issue for you, then there will be another more suitable option on this list.

9. Air Choice Large Room Air Purifier

This air purifier has all the necessary functions and is ideal for larger rooms up to 495 square feet. To make it even better, it’s able to purify the air in a room of this size in only 10 minutes!

Its HEPA filter is able to remove 99.97% of airborne particles and it comes fitted with an air quality sensor. This is indicated by the small light on top, which means you’ll always be aware of the air quality in your room.

The sleep mode on this air purifier is perhaps one of its best features. When working in this mode it only produces 34dB of noise, which just makes it the quietest on this list. It also comes with a timer function that you can set when you go to bed.

Possibly my only negative for this air purifier is its design, as it’s not as sleek and stylish as some other models. However, this is a matter of preference, and considering its functionality, it’s definitely something I’m willing to overlook.

Some final thoughts

Finding the best low radiation air purifier might take some work, but hopefully, this list has shown you some good options. I’d recommend browsing the market to find the best one for your needs, but finding the right air purifier with low EMF radiation emissions will make a big difference in your home.

Best Types of EMF Protection Clothing

It seems like, today, every aspect of our lives is taken over by technology. Cellphones, laptops, WIFI, and electricity to drive it all are just a few of the things that emit EMFs. Technology is hard to avoid and still have a job these days, or a social life for that matter. But is our cellphone harmful to us?

It is known to be harmful, and because of that, people have developed clothing and accessories to protect us from EMFs that are emitted by cellphones, laptops, and WIFI.

Needing protection or wanting protection from EMFs that we come into contact with daily is wise, but does it work, and how does it work? What do you need to look for in this protective clothing to feel confident in your purchase?

What Are EMFs?

EMFs, or electromagnetic fields, are fields produced by moving electrical charges. The fields that are the most notable are the fields produced by cell phones, laptops, and WIFI. Most Americans have daily contact with one or more of these fields.

There are EMFs all around us from natural and man-made sources. With this being the case, there is no way to get away from electromagnetic fields no matter how hard we try or how vigilant we are. There are EMFs in nature, such as what makes the compass needle move. There are also fields that come from common power outlets.

Does Protective Clothing Work?

A common question, and rightfully so, is “does protective clothing work?” There are some things that need to be considered in order to answer that question effectively. When you are looking to purchase EMF protective clothing, you will see some numbers on the label that basically tells you what frequencies it is effective with.

When we think of whether or not something works, we tend to think of it in terms of all yes or all no, but for this type of clothing and protection, it isn’t that easy. There is no clothing that protects from 100 percent of the electromagnetic fields out there, but the best clothing can be up to 99.99 percent effective.

How Does it Work?

That is all well and good, but how does it work? It works by using certain materials such as mylar, copper, aluminum, and silver to force the EMF radiation to scatter as it passes through. This reduces the force of the electromagnetic field before it gets to your body.

Some clothing has protection for only certain types of radiation, such as cell phones and WIFI. These types of radiation are the most common when it comes to daily exposure for a large number of people.

It is important when looking for protective clothing that you look at the package to see what range of EMFs that can guard against. If the package says 30 dB at 1-5 GHz, then it will protect 99.9 percent against what is emitted from your cell phone and WIFI.

Best Protective Clothing

There are some protective clothing manufacturers out there that are not the best and would love to take advantage of people just trying to look after their health. There is also EMF clothing out there that is simply not effective against even the fields emitted by cellphones.

The look of the clothing is also important. Walking around is something that looks like a tin foil hat or shirt will not work to blend in as we go about our daily life. Being fashionable, even in a low-key way, is something that is important to a large number of people and can be a selling point for some companies.

If there are two different beanies that offer the same level of protection, but one is on-trend, and one is not, that could be the difference between making sales and building a business or not. We looked and found the 10 best pieces of protective clothing on the market today to share with you.

1. Shield Signal Proof Ball Cap

EMF Protective Casual Baseball Cap

Shield is a new company on the market, and we can’t get enough. Their products are effective, sleek, and trendy. They don’t just offer EMF protection, either. They boast antibacterial and odor-proof footwear, as well as blue light protection glasses.

Making the top of our list is their signal proof ball cap. This cap looks like any other ball cap out there but can help protect against potentially harmful EMF waves. This is the best of both worlds. You can look great and stay safe.

2. Lambs Men’s Boxer Briefs

Lambs Men’s Boxer Briefs

These boxer briefs are made of cotton, silver and nylon and promise to block not only cellphone frequencies but microwaves as well. The manufacturer boasts that this product has been thoroughly tested and will undoubtedly work as promised.

You may wonder what the purpose of EMF protection briefs actually is. That is a great question. The idea behind EMF protection briefs is to protect your reproductive organs specifically from your cellphone.

3. Lamb’s Radiation Proof Trunks

Lamb’s Radiation Proof Trunks

Another pair of underwear that has made our list of top protective clothing is Lamb’s radiation-proof trunks. These made the list because of the combination of protection and looks. These look like your run of the mill underwear you can get from your big box store but offer the same protection of the above brand.

They are also more affordable per pair and offer discounts for purchasing multiple pairs at one time. One pair is about $45, but if you buy three pairs, there is a bulk discount price offered. There are also two different styles to choose from.

4. Lamb’s EMF Proof Beanie

Lamb’s EMF Proof Beanie

Lamb’s, which used to be Spartan, doesn’t just sell underwear to “keep the bad off your goods,” but they also recently added an EMF proof beanie that we are loving. This beanie claims to block 99% of the radiation produced by wireless technology.

It is also very sleek looking. No one would even know your beanie is not just keeping your head warm unless, of course, you tell them.

There are quite a few beanies on the market with two on our list. The reason this one made it to the top 10 EMF protective clothing list is that it is certified by MET Labs, USA. Met Labs is a compliance testing and certification laboratory for electronics. They make sure products do what they claim to do.

5. OurSure Anti-Radiation Tank Top

Tanks tops are great in any season. In the summer, they can be worn by themselves, and in the winter, they can be layered for added warmth. A tank top that also protects against unwanted electromagnetic frequencies is a tank top we want in our wardrobe.

OurSure products are overall good quality and tested to make sure they do what they say they do. This tank top can be purchased in a unisex design, men’s design, and women’s design, so there is sure to be a fit that you like.

It is made of a silver nylon blend to add a little bit of stretch. It only comes in one color, and that is silver/gray, which is a neutral color that will go with anything you already own.

6. Belly Armor Anti-Radiation Maternity Camisole

Belly Armor Anti-Radiation Maternity Camisole

Pregnancy is a joyous time, but it also comes with a number of worries for some expectant parents. We want to protect our children from everything we can even before they are born, that include radiation and electromagnetic frequencies from cell phones, cell towers, laptops, and WIFI are on the shortlist of potential hazards.

There are maternity EMF clothing options on the market that claim to help protect your unborn child from an EMF saturated environment. One of our favorites right now is the Belly Armor Anti-Radiation Maternity Camisole. We love it because it is structured very much like a typical maternity camisole, but it does have silver in the fabric that covers the mother’s belly.

It can be worn under clothing, and with the top available peach or charcoal gray, it can also be layered with a button-up or V-neck shirt. This is a great option for added protection.

7. Shield Signal Proof Hoodie

Signal-blocking sweatshirt

A good hoodie can make a wardrobe extremely comfortable and trendy. A hoodie that also protects against EMF waves adds a level of safety to your wardrobe. We love a good hoodie, and Shield’s signal proof hoodie definitely makes the list.

It is black, so it will go with everything and is not obviously EMF protective clothing. It does have a small Shield logo on the front, but it is very low key and tasteful. It provides 360-degree protection and is not only protection from EMFs, but it is also antibacterial and antistatic. This silver and cotton blend is even great for playing sports.

8. Shield Signal Proof Layover Beanie

EMF Proof Layover Beanie - Gray

The second beanie to make our list is also the third item from Shield to grace our top 10. This beanie looks like a classic layover beanie. It has silver material on the inside of the beanie that offers protection EMFs.

This beanie is also antibacterial, antistatic, and comes in four different colors. We love the choice of color because often, EMF clothing is either black or gray/silver, so any color options are great. This is rated for wireless EMFs such as cellphones and WIFI.

9. Junezia Anti-Radiation Dress Maternity Top

Another maternity item has made our top 10 list, and it is the Junezia Anti-Radiation Dress Maternity Top. This is a one size fits all design and only comes in one style. It can be worn in a few different ways to add variety and give you choices when it comes to this protective clothing item.

You can wear the dress under clothing, and that includes V-neck or other low cut items due to the low neckline of the dress. You can also wear the dress over another shirt tunic style. In addition to these two styles, you can wear it as a nightdress.

This maternity dress claims to protect against low and high frequencies, which we think is a plus. The only drawback is that it is recommended that the dress is only dry cleaned or hand washed and laid to dry. This could be a deal-breaker for some. However, any clothing item that has EMF protection has to be cleaned with care.

10. AntiWave EMF Shielding T-shirt

The antiwave EMF shielding T-shirt looks like your basic T-shirt. It comes in a men’s style and a women’s style, but both are very similar to each other. This protective shirt is a blend of cotton and silver boasting two percent silver content to protect you from EMFs.

This is a less effective protective item than some of the others that have made this list blocking only 75% of the electromagnetic frequencies from cell phones, laptops, and WIFI. It is also not an inexpensive shirt selling for a minimum of $65 on Amazon.

EMF Protection for Babies & Children

In addition to the protective clothing that we have already mentioned, there is protection out there that is specifically for babies. There is concern out there about the effects of electromagnetic frequencies on babies and young children.

While some of the products we have already discussed will protect your unborn children, such as the maternity tops and camisoles, once they are born, they may still need some protection.

SYB Baby Blanket

SYB Baby Blanket

The Shield Your Body Baby Blanket claims to protect against 99% of the lower frequencies from everyday electronics. It looks like a typical baby blanket and is made from soft flannel that will be comfortable for baby.

What we love the most is that the blanket is the largest on the market, comes in a variety of colors, and is machine washable and dryable. With babies, easily laundered is a must. However, this blanket is not inexpensive.

As with other protective products, this would be an investment. The price on the Shield Your Body website is just under $100. There are other blankets on the market, but they are similarly priced.

Nova Resonator Child Band

There are some protection options for older children and one of those is the Nova Resonator Child Band. This a stylish woven type bracelet that your child can wear anywhere without anyone know what it is. Keeping this on your child as much as possible could help protect them from everyday EMFs that they come into contact with.

If your child does not want to wear it on their wrist, then it can be worn on their ankle as well. This Earthcalm product has research on its website that supports their claims of protection.

SYB Baby Beanie

SYB Baby Beanie

It is very common for babies to wear beanies and hats when they are very young or in the winter months. So why not make an investment in a baby beanie that does two things. The Shield Your Body Baby Beanie keeps you babies head warm while offering some protection of EMFs.

SYB uses 35% silver content to make this product and because the sliver is through the entire beanie, it offers protection all the way around the head. It is very soft, as a baby hat should be, and is machine washable.

The beanie also comes in multiple sizes so your baby can continue to wear the SYB beanie as they grow. Sizing goes from newborn to 24 months.

Vest Anti-Radiation Baby Blanket

Another baby blanket on the market that we like is the Vest Anti-Radiation Baby Blanket. This blanket is smaller than the SYB option and only comes in two different colors but if you need a blanket that is somewhat easier on your budget, this might be a good choice with a retail price of $79 on the Vest website.

It is 100% cotton with silver fibers embedded and blocks 99% of the EMFs from everyday devices that will be around your baby at home or out and about. This product has been tested by the FCC and approved.

With any of the products mentioned make sure you do your research on the product and the company to make sure you are getting the best product for what you need.

Other Methods of EMF Protection

Clothing and baby items are not the only methods of EMF protection that you can purchase. Directly blocking the electromagnetic fields that are emitted from cellphones and laptops is also a good option for protection. There is also a method that is free but very difficult to actually do.

Taking steps to protect you and your loved ones from potential hazards is always a wise thing to do. With so many options on how to do it, it can be an easy task with the right information and products.

Avoid EMFs

One of the best ways to protect yourself and others from EMFs is also one of the hardest things to do. We are such a technology-saturated society that unless you live in the woods and off the grid, you can’t successfully execute this method.

It is recommended by some that EMFs be completely avoided by avoided the technology that emits them. This is nearly impossible, especially in America. Our cellphones are rarely out of our hands or far from us at all. Most jobs will have some technology needs if not completely reliant on computers, laptops, and cellphones.

If you can minimize your exposure by turning off your tech at night, having tech-free times, not putting your laptop on your lap, and not sleeping with your cellphone or carrying in your pocket that will be helpful. Reducing your overall exposure time in any way in beneficial. If that doesn’t sound doable, there are products to help.

Cellphone Cases

Carrying your cellphone in your pocket is giving your body nearly direct exposure to the EMFs that are transmitted from your phone. This is also true when you are using the cellphone. While you will also get some EMFs when using your phone, we can reduce exposure when you are simply carrying it.

It is, of course, best to not carry it in your pocket but we know this isn’t always possible. Companies have developed cases to offer some protection from the electromagnetic field from cellphones. But which cases work best? This is by no means a comprehensive list of cases.

DefenderShield Case

This case offers 360-degree protection when the phone is not in use. This case does not block all of the EMFs that your phone sends out into the environment, but it does reduce them. This is not just a cell phone case though.

This is also a wallet and protects your credit cards from RIF readers. The wallet part is detachable and can be worn around your wrist if you want to unplug and leave your phone behind for a little bit.

This case comes in two sizes and is compatible with quite a few cellphone models. This is, however, an expensive case as far as cases go so make sure you do your research before you make a purchase.

Check out my top recommendations for cellphone cases that protect from EMF.

Vest Anti-Radiation Case

Another case that we like is the Vest brand case. This one also has 360-degree protection and is also a wallet. The wallet part does not detach like the DefenderShield Case, but it is a lower price point. It also fits a wider variety of smartphones.

On their website, you can search by phone brand to find one that will work for you. They also have cases that are not wallets. Since this version does not close, it won’t offer 360-degree protection, so just be aware of that when you are trying to choose a case.

Laptop Shields

Laptops were made to do what their name says and that is to sit on top of your lap. When laptops were created, the potential hazards of EMFs were not known and now we all love the portability that laptops give us. Now, however, we know that this could be hazardous but what do we do?

If at all possible, always use your laptop by setting it on a table or desk, if that can’t always happen there is a product to help. EMF protection companies have developed what is called a laptop shield to minimize the EMFs that are sent into our bodies when we are using our computers.

The idea behind the shield is that you set the laptop on the shield before setting it on your lap.

DefenderPad

DefenderPad is a laptop EMF shield but it also serves a double purpose. This particular shield is also a heat shield. We have all likely experienced the heat that radiates from our laptops as we work or browse amazon. This shield protects you from heat and radiation.

The DefenderPad is compatible with a large number of laptop brands so it is likely to work with your computer, but it is wise to research before purchasing. This pad is an investment with a retail cost of $105 on Amazon.

Check out my top picks for laptop shields.

How to Choose

With all of this information, you may be overwhelmed and wondering how you can possibly make a decision of what if anything to purchase. There are a few things that you can take into consideration before you buy anything.

Have I Done my Research?

Before buying any EMF protection clothing or products, you need to do your due diligence with research. What protection does it offer? Has it been tested? What do the reviews say?

Asking questions is of the utmost importance since you want to spend your money well on a quality product.

What do I Need?

What exactly do you need the product for? Would clothing be more helpful to you and your loved ones or a phone case or laptop pad?

It is important to know what you need before you start shopping, this will prevent purchases that don’t do what you want or need.
